Nikon has produced their second waterproof digital camera in the form of the Coolpix S30. This is a compact camera with simple automatic controls built around a traditional 10 megapixels CCD and 3X wide-angle optical zoom lens. The S30 is waterproof down to 3m, shockproof to drops of 1m and – needless to say – completely dust-proof.
This entry level is well suited for swimming and other activities where the camera risks to be treated roughly. Children will also enjoy its easy to use controls and ability to survive small falls. Further versatility is assured by its use of AA batteries which let it take a class-leading 700 shots using a pair of Lithium AAs. This is a great bonus of kids who may forget to keep their batteries charged.
The Nikon Coolpix S30 is scheduled to be available in Canada and the USA this month for a suggested price of $119, either CDN or USD.
