Neocamera just published an express review for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2. This the flagship SLD from Panasonic with a 16 megapixels CMOS sensor and Micro Four-Thirds lens mount. It features many of Panasonic’s most advanced technologies including an ultra-sharp 1.5 megapixels EVF. The GH2 offers full 1080p video capabilities with stereo sound, continuous autofocus, variable frame-rates, manual controls.
The GH2, as tested, is paired with a specially designed 14-140mm F4.5-5.8 lens which is optimized for video performance. It uses a continuously variable aperture to prevent jumps in brightness while filming. Given the 2X Four-Thirds crop-factor, this stabilized 10X optical zoom lens is equivalent to 28-280mm in 35mm-terms. Together this lens and camera bring excellent video capabilities to interchangeable lens cameras (ILCs) while retaining the high image quality afforded by relatively large sensors.
