Panasonic Lumix S 20-60mm F/3.5-5.6

Panasonic just revealed the most original lens for full-frame cameras of recent years! This unique zoom is designed for the Leica L-mount system of Full-Frame Mirrorless Digital Cameras uses by Leica, Panasonic and Sigma. The innovative Panasonic Lumix S 20-60mm F/3.5-5.6 covers an exceptionally wide angle-of-view and a normal view in a single lens. At its widest, the angle-of-view spans 94° on a Full-Fame. On the other end, its 60mm focal-length produces a 40° angle-of-view. This flexibility comes with a dim F/3.5-5.6 maximum aperture, depending on the focal-length.

This lens is part of the generic S-series which does not put it on the same level as the Pro S-series but allows Panasonic to make this lens compact and very light while remaining fully weatherproof and freezeproof down to -10C. At 350g, this is the lightest Full-Frame zoom for L-mount and one of the lightest lenses overall. All Panasonic Full-Frame Mirrorless Cameras feature builtin image-stabilization, so this lens does not need any.

It is exciting to start seeing highly innovate products like this one! The focal-range provided by the Panasonic Lumix S 20-60mm F/3.5-5.6 is incredibly versatile. Being able to capture landscape and standard images with a single lens is sure to please travel and event photographers that take the whole view or details without swapping lenses. This lens even manages to achieve a 0.43X magnification to reach near-macro capabilities.

Panasonic expects to ship the Lumix S 20-60mm F/3.5-5.6 at the end of July for $600 USD. Canadian pricing has not been announced yet. Pre-order this incredible lens at Adorama or B&H Photo. Neither of these two reputable stores will charge your credit-card until the lens actually ships, while securing a spot among the first to receive one.
