Nikon just revealed two new waterproof additions to its Coolpix compact cameras. The flagship AW130 and entry-level S33, both rugged digital cameras with internal optics.
The Nikon Coolpix AW130 is waterproof to a never-seen-before depth of 30m (100′). It is rugged to survive drops of 2.1m (7′) and is freezeproof to -10C (14F). Even though it is very compact, the AW130 packs a GPS with digital compass and world-map, WiFi and NFC.
This Coolpix features a stabilized 5X ultra-wide-angle optical zoom, equivalent to 24-120mm. This lens has a maximum F/2.8 aperture at wide-angle and is paired with a 16 megapixels high-speed CMOS sensor with ISO 125-6400 sensitivity-range. The sensor can shoot continuously at 7 FPS, for a maximum of 5 frames, and record full 1080p HD video at 30 FPS.
The Nikon Coolpix S33 takes the entry-level line to the depths of previous flagship models. It is waterproof down to 10m (33′) and shockproof to 1.5m (5′) drops. This point-and-shoot compact offers a 3X optical zoom lens, equivalent to 30-90mm.
The S33 features a 13 megapixels CMOS sensor, with ISO 125-1600 sensitivity-range. It can even manage full 1080p HD video at 25 FPS.
