Nikon is taking a huge leap ahead of the competition with its latest ultra-zoom. The Nikon Coolpix P900 boasts the world’s first fixed 83X optical zoom lens. This incredible lens offers an equivalent 24-2000mm range with maximum F/2.8-6.5 aperture. This is of course fully stabilized and Nikon claims up to 5 stops of effectiveness.
This a prosumer ultra-zoom and Nikon’s most advanced yet. It features full manual-controls, including spot metering and custom white-balance. It is equipped with plenty of controls, including dual control-dials, dual zoom-controllers and a traditional mode-dial. Framing with the P900 can be done via a rotating 3″ LCD or built-in 0.2″ EVF with Eye-Start sensor. Both offer 920K pixels of resolution and 100% coverage.
The Nikon P900 also has built-in WiFi and NFC, plus a GPS to complete its feature set. It is scheduled to be available next month for $599 USD or $669 CDN. B&H Photo and Adorama are already accepting pre-orders.
